🚨 Episode 63 🚨 L E E B R E N N A N – 911 I first met Lee on the Smash Hits Roadshow in 1998. 911 were at their peak, it was a POP era of Boyzone, Steps, Bewitched and newcomers like A1, Atomic Kitten and of course Westlife. The roads in the POP world are always unpredictable and Lee Brennan explains to me how his journey started out from his upbringing in Carlisle to his first meeting with Spike and Jimmy who where dancers on the ITV show “The Hitman and Her” and formed the Boyband 911. Lee has been through a lot, he battled Hodgkins Lymphoma twice aged 9yrs and 15rs before becoming a Popstar and gracing bedroom walls across the globe. He explains how the break up of 911 sent him into the unknown. I sit down with him, kick back and have a chat just as he prepares to begin Panto in the UK and do 12 shows a week! What a nice guy. I went to watch @officialcufc play with my Mam at Brunton Park today and happened to be sitting next to the team from @andysmanclubuk Carlisle. The team were out raising awareness, collecting donations and giving wristbands away like the one I was given. They do an amazing job ❤️ ANDYSMANCLUB are a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free to attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online. They want to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and help men through the power of conversation. #andysmanclub #itsokaytotlk #carlisle

Here’s a little snippet of a song I wrote called You Are My Champion. I wrote the song last year after my interview for the Boybands Forever documentary. It was an emotional interview, one about how cancer had affected so much of my life as an adult, confidence, self esteem, the way I saw myself and the hateful words I used to call myself when I looked in the mirror. The interview I did yesterday on This Morning reminded me about the song again. Sometimes we can forget how big something was and how it’s affected us, until we look back and see how far we’ve come. The person looking back at us in the mirror is our champion, ultimately the one that has got us through some of the hardest and darkest times in our life so far. We are so much more resilient, determined and stronger than we ever realise. I hope you like the song, I’m sure I’ll release it one day when it’s all finished, but I just wanted to share a little bit of it with me doing my best beginners piano playing! Such a great night on Friday in Glasgow! Thanks to @officialkeithduffy & @brianmcfadden123 for the unexpected invite to go on stage and sing Baby Can I Hold You Tonight with them and their amazing band. It was a total buzz and as always, the Glasgow crowd were so loud. Watching @officialboyzlife from my seat and meeting lots of you there reminded me just how amazing nostalgia is and how much it means to so many of you who were fans of pop music & Boybands especially back in the day. To see so many faces light up and to see everyone singing their hearts out for a couple of hours is absolutely priceless. For some, it’s a break from difficult times, for some it’s their happy place, whatever your reason, it’s just ace isn’t it, I know it means a lot to fans of all bands and it means alot to us all who perform too ❤️ Video by my gf @tobijaynecadbury
